The Makita DMP181Z is a cordless 18V LXT inflator for car tyres, bicycle tyres, sports balls and leisure inflatables. It is based on Makita’s DMP180 but has a higher maximum pressure of 11.1 bar (161 psi), so it also suits high-pressure tyres such as road bike tyres. It delivers up to 22 L/min at lower pressures for quick top-ups and fills.

You set the target pressure on the backlit digital gauge, and the inflator stops automatically when it gets there. This lets you inflate hands-free with less risk of over-filling. The DMP181Z remembers your last pressure setting after you switch it off, which saves time on jobs you repeat. If you overshoot, you can hold the air release button to let pressure out.

There are three inflation modes: High Speed, Low Speed and Ball. A built-in LED job light helps when you’re working in poor light or at the roadside. Valve adapters are supplied and store on the tool, so they’re less likely to go missing. The DMP181Z runs on any Makita 18V LXT battery. That makes it a practical addition if you already own LXT tools, whether you’re a mechanic, a cyclist or keeping it in the van.
